Because the veneer is laid rather than jointed from solid stock, the grain runs unbroken along the full 81 cm instead of changing every few centimetres. Below it, a powder coated steel frame carries the garment rail and takes the load off the shelf line. It hangs on a French cleat, so the wall keeps the screws and the face of the rack stays clean - no visible brackets, no plugs to fill.\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWhat goes where\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe top of the coat rack shelf is a ledge, deep enough for a small plant, a diffuser or a set of post. The five cubbies underneath are for the things that otherwise migrate: keys, sunglasses, gloves, a dog lead, the letters you keep meaning to open. The rail below takes standard clothes hangers, so a coat keeps its shoulders instead of stretching over a peg. Over a chest of drawers it becomes a key rack and jewellery ledge; in a home office the cubbies swallow cables and cards.
