How a Scandinavian shelf is actually made
Every piece in this collection is made to order in our workshop in Latvia, in Europe. Nothing is bought in and rebadged, which is why the same hands appear in the reviews as in the workshop stories on our blog.
The shelf bodies are built from a stable engineered core faced with real wood veneer (koka finieris) — oak, ash, cherry, walnut or wenge — with the interior finished in a clean matte white that gives the classic Nordic contrast between pale cavity and warm edge. Veneer over a stable core is a deliberate choice, not a compromise: a wide solid board moves with the seasons and will eventually cup or split across a 116 cm span, while a veneered body stays flat and holds a crisp curve.
