Cavallo is a shoe storage bench built to be sat on, not just propped against. Two layers of bent Baltic birch plywood carry the curve of the seat, tested to a 50+ kg load rating. Sit down, kick your shoes onto the floor space underneath, and use the open shelf above it for a basket or the everyday things you don't want left in a drawer -- black powder-coated steel legs keep the whole piece visually light.

Construction
The top and shelf are birch plywood faced in a real wood veneer -- walnut, oak, ash, cherry or wenge -- never solid timber, because cross-layered plywood resists warping in a way a single solid board can't. The legs are powder-coated steel, bolted on flat-pack style with all hardware included.
Sizing
Cavallo comes in three widths -- 70, 90 and 110 cm -- all 46 cm high and 35 cm deep. Measure the wall run in your entryway or hallway before choosing: 70 cm suits a narrow hallway or apartment entry, 90 cm is the size most households land on, and 110 cm gives the most floor space underneath for a family's worth of shoes.
Styling
Black steel legs against a light veneer read as modern-industrial rather than farmhouse, so Cavallo sits comfortably in a Scandinavian or mid-century room as well as an industrial one. Style the top with a tray for keys, or leave the shelf open for shoes and a folded throw.
Made in Latvia, in the EU. Pair it with our curved shoe rack for a second drop point by the door.
As of August 2025, the US government is removing the de minimis exemption. This means that all imported goods — including orders from our shop in Latvia (EU) — are now subject to customs processing and import duties, regardless of the order value.

Where mounting is needed, hanging hardware and instructions are included; otherwise it is freestanding and ready to style straight out of the box.

Yes - every piece is handmade and the natural veneer grain varies, so no two pieces are ever identical.

Each Shoe Bench CAVALLO is handmade in our workshop in Cesis, Latvia, from high-quality veneered birch plywood - a strong, stable material that resists warping - finished with eco-friendly, non-toxic oils and paints. The exact finish and colour of each variant is shown in the product options above.
How do I care for it?
Dust with a dry cloth and keep it away from high humidity and long direct sunlight - that is all it needs.
Is it suitable as a gift?
Very much so - it ships securely packed and looks gift-worthy on arrival. Many reviewers buy our pieces as housewarming and wedding gifts.
How long does shipping take?
Standard worldwide shipping is free. Every piece is made to order, so production normally takes 3-5 business days - the estimated delivery dates are shown next to the price above.
Can I return it if it does not fit my interior?
Yes. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery as long as the item is unused and in its original packaging - see the Shipping and returns tab above for details.
